During May 2019 until April 2020, Innocon S.A. Laboratory participated in the AOCS Laboratory Proficiency Program (LPP) seeking to demonstrate proficiency in order to meet ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation requirements.
The LPP included the analysis of: Fatty Acid Profile, p-Anisidine Value, Free Fatty Acids, Color, Insoluble Impurities, Iodine Value, Peroxide Value and Moisture Content and Volatile Matter. Four samples were received quarterly during the year, a total of 16 fish oil samples, which were analyzed in our laboratory. The work consisted of the prior organization of supplies and infrastructure, preparation of personnel and ended with an exhaustive and statistical analysis of the data obtained. Official AOCS methods were used for sample analysis and the results were compared to other laboratories using the same methods and samples. Participants received quarterly reports containing results from all participating laboratories (each participant’s information is confidential). After the fourth quarter, participants received a proficiency report, which contained a performance evaluation of all participants during the year. Our participation was highlighted among the 30 participants of the program at an international level, being highlighted within the first places of the LPP and we were given this certificate by the AOCS. The AOCS Laboratory Proficiency Program (LPP) is the world's most extensive and respected collaborative proficiency testing program for oil- and fat-related commodities, oilseeds, oilseed meals and edible fats. More than 500 institutions participate to verify and demonstrate the quality control of their products.
