Coronel, November 28th, 2023 – Innocon, a leader in research and development services, through a measure driven by the growing demand for services and the need for more workspace, expanded its infrastructure with two modern laboratories, one for the development of the Research and Development (R&D) areas and another for the Biomolecular area.
Always with the focus on enhancing research capacity and guaranteeing safety in work teams, the expansion carried out in its laboratories consists of 80 square meters attached to the existing pilot shed. In addition, vital equipment was incorporated into the R&D laboratory, the Laminar Flow Hood.
Pablo Lagos, head of R&D Food Area, commented that: “This device allows the manipulation of potentially dangerous microorganisms without putting the safety of collaborators at risk. We highlight the incorporation of this tool, which is essential for the safety of the human team since by protecting ourselves it makes it easier for us to carry out safer and more precise analyses.”
On the occasion, he also praised the company’s initiative, describing it as the timely response to a need that had been evident for months. “It is an excellent initiative on the part of Innocon, as it directly benefits the R&D areas in which we work daily, significantly improving our ability to undertake new projects.”
For her part, Marcia Jerez, Head of R&D in the Projects, and Piloting Area, highlighted the crucial role of applying for external resources to carry out different company initiatives. “Initially, it is important to bring these types of resources to carry out actions, since many times there is not all the necessary funds. Opting for state benefits, such as the Reactiva Investment financing from Develop Bio Bío, was key to materializing part of this project.”

Siempre con el foco puesto en potenciar la capacidad de investigación y garantizar la seguridad en los equipos de trabajo, la ampliación realizada en sus laboratorios consta de 80 metros cuadrados anexados al galpón piloto existente. Además, se incorporó un equipo vital en el laboratorio de I+D, la Campana de Flujo Laminar.
Pablo Lagos jefe de I+D Área Alimentación, comentó que: “Este dispositivo permite la manipulación de microorganismos potencialmente peligrosos sin poner en riesgo la seguridad de los colaboradores. Destacamos la incorporación de esta herramienta que es esencial para la seguridad del equipo humano ya que al protegernos nos facilita realizar análisis más seguros y precisos”.
En la oportunidad, elogió, también, la iniciativa de la empresa, calificándola como la respuesta oportuna a una necesidad que se manifestaba desde hace meses. “Es una excelente iniciativa de parte de Innocon, ya que va en beneficio directo de las áreas de I+D en las que trabajamos diariamente, mejorando significativamente nuestra capacidad para emprender nuevos proyectos”.
Por su parte, Marcia Jerez, Jefa de I+D en el Área de Proyectos y Pilotajes, destacó el papel crucial de la postulación a recursos externos para llevar a cabo distintas iniciativas de las empresas. “Inicialmente es importante traer este tipo de recursos para ejecutar acciones, ya que muchas veces no se cuenta con la totalidad de los fondos necesarios. Optar por beneficios estatales, como el financiamiento Reactiva Inversión de Desarrolla Bio Bío, fue clave para materializar parte de este proyecto”.
